Mangaluru: Poetry is like nector. Evil thoughts won’t come near to the poets and good poetry lovers. Poetry can be a better option for todays society filled with full of negative thoughts, said Dr. Vasanthkumar Perla, Head of Programme, Akashvani, Mangaluru and noted senior Kannada poet.
He was giving key-note address in the poets, symposium arranged in connection with “Karavali Utsav”at exhibition ground here, yesterday. The ‘Kavigosti’was conducted by ‘Bhoomigeetha’ a literary and cultural associations of Mangaluru. Poetry can be an effective answer for today’s negative thoughts and destructive activities he said.
Noted poets N.P. Shetty Mulky, Sharada S. Shetty, Hariappa Pejavar, Radhakrishna K. Uliyathadka, Dr. Nagaveni Manchi, Jyothi Chelaru, Malathi Shetty Manoor and Amrutha Otekkatu rendered their self composed poems.
Senior poet Raghurama Rao Baikampady was presided over the poets symposium. He said poem recitation is one of the important and effective modes of learning a language and appreciating a piece of literature. But present generation is loosing its interest on poems.
The symposium was titled as ‘Hemanthada ondu sanje’(An evening in the winter). Smt K. Shailakumari welcomed the gathering. Agama Perla sung the prayer song. Artha Perla compered and smt Sumangala K. Naik gave vote of thanks.
