Minister Ramanatha Rai inaugurates ‘Inspire award-2013 science’ model exhibition at Pilikula

Mangalore, July 20 : B Ramanatha Rai,minister for forest, ecology and environment and district in-charge has inaugurated ‘inspire award-2013 science model exhibition, jointly organized by the department of education for higher primary and high school students at Pilikula  regional science centre on July 20,Saturday.

Addressing the media personnel after the inauguration Rai said in his address that exhibition of this kind will encourage students in the field of science. Unlike in the past where people used to crave for learning science and technology but lacked an opportunity and the present day generation has got an abundant scope and opportunities to learn science and technology and explore their skill and talents, he said.

He further said that every kid has got an intelligence, creativeness and their mind is like an ocean and its expression comes in different forms.

The same was the situation in Pilikula science Centre, where students of higher primary school and high school exhibited their talents and creativeness and received laurels and appreciation from the crowd.

He also further said, referring to the several talents from the district, who have won many laurels at national and international level, these talents are pride of the district and teachers must strive to bring out the hidden talents in each and every student through organizing events of this type, he said. This is a good platform to exhibit their skill, talents and creativities, he said.

The new ZP CEO Tulasi Maddineni said in her speech that Dakshina Kannada is a district of educated and intelligent people and added that it was a matter of honor to serve the district

The non-electric grinding machine by Aditya of St Johns high school, Kokkada, vehicle counting machine by Fathima of ZP school, Puttur, Automatic Railway crossing, Bio-degradation of waste materials by Melisha of Holy Rosary English School, Non-electric projector by Yashwin of NITK high school, Cell phone operated rover by Swaraj of Karambhag School, Puttur were some of the models gained laurels and appreciation from the crowd.

The most attracted and lauded by the crowd was the model “censored street light” of Chaitra, seventh standard student of Koyyode higher primary school. She said that the model was made with PIR censor and such kind of censored lights will save power, she added.

Mrs Shakuntala Shetty,MLA from Puttur,Parvati Maddineni.ZP CEO,Shashidhar Hegde,former Mayor of MCC,Harish Kumar,TP president, Philomena Lobo,Principal,District institute of education and training centre (DIET) and among others were present in the exhibition place.

The exhibition, which began on July 20, Saturday will continue till July 26th.
