Rape attempt on female foreign student: Conviction of two accused upheld by State High Court.

Ullal, December 4: The state high court has upheld the judgement given by the special court in connection to the attempt to rape case of a foreign student.

The convicted persons are Mohammed Ashraf, resident of Nadupalli in Kudroli and Abdul Jaleel, resident of Tiblepadavu near Assaigolli.

In 2007, the two had attempted to rape a female student from Germany. The German student was studying in KS Hegde Medical College was staying in Taj towers apartment situated opposite to the college. On August 8th, 2007; while the student was studying at her room in night, the two accused entered into her room and attempted to rape her.

The Konaje police had registered a case, arrested the accused and produced them in the court. The principal sessions and special court had convicted the culprits and ordered four years of imprisonment in 2008. The accused had appealed in the state high court, questioning the judgement of lower court.

The high court passed the judgement on Wednesday and upheld the orders passed by the lower court. The accused have surrendered and are detained under judicial custody.
