Mangalore, July 10: It has been brought to the knowledge of the city’s rickshaw drivers that some rickshaws from rural areas, outskirts of city are entering the city illegally. As a result of which, drivers who are working in the city are badly affected.
Therefore it has been decided in the rickshaw driver’s samithi meeting held on July 10, Wednesday that not to allow illegal entry of such rural rickshaws.
It has also been warned that in case MLAs, elected representatives permit to ply rural areas rickshaws against the wishes of city’s rickshaw drivers, a massive protest will be organized by the rickshaw drivers, it said.
It also said that a protest procession will be held on July 12, Friday at 10.00 am from Jyothi circle to deputy commissioner’s office and there protest exhibition will be held in front of DC office, leaders informed.
B Vishnu Murthy, Zilla president, auto driver’s sangha, has presided over the function. Chief guests like DK Zilla auto rickshaw sanghatana convener Ali Hasan, Jayaprakash Shetty, Karnataka Rakshana Vedhike, Ashok Kumar Shetty Bolar, president HMS rickshaw Sanghatane, Krishna, from CITU and committee members rickshaw drivers samithi were present.
