Advocate Naushad murder case: Quantum of punishment to be announced on Nov 27th.

Mangaluru, November 26:  In connection to the murder of advocate Naushad Kashimji, third additional district and sessions court had on Wednesday November 25th convicted five accused and acquitted two others.

The convicts were taken to the court as the quantum of punishment was supposed to be pronounced on Thursday November 26 th. But the court had postponed the pronouncement of quantum of punishment to Friday

It was expressed that a chance may be given to the culprits to correct their mistakes, the court which on hearing to the arguments said the quantum of punishment would be announced tomorrow.

Twelve were accused in the case, among whom Dinesh Shetty of Nayataru Village in Beltangady taluk, Subrahmanya from Kadri, Ritesh alias Reetu and Ganesh, residents of Kodikal in the city, and Pratap Shetty from Kavoor were convicted. Two other accused namely Shivprakash and Ravi Shukwani were acquitted.

Naushad Kashimji, who had appeared on behalf of Rashid Malbari, a close associate of Dawood Ibrahim and many others, was shot dead near his apartment at Falnir on April 9th, 2009.
