Mangaluru, November 26: The Mangaluru rural police arrested notorious thief who was involved in snatching chains and vehicle thefts.
The arrested accused is identified as Numan Beeran alias Numan (20) from Ballur gudde in Kannur.
A karimani chain, a gold chain and two motor bikes valued at Rs 1.5 lakhs has been confiscated from his possession.
The gold jewellery were stolen in theft committed in Arkula in last September.
The accused had snatched away the karimani chain at Ullaibettu, in the company of Sadath and Mohammed Rafeek. In this case, Mohammed Rafeek from Goodinabali, Bantwal is under judicial custody. Sadath Ali from Jumadigudde, Farangipet has absconded.
The accused stole motorbikes from Mallur and Kannur.
Rural police station Inspector Pramod Kumar P and PSI’s MD Maddi, Venaktesh and police personnel’s Subhashchandra, Mohan, Sudhakar, Melwin, Sudheer, Shivananda and others participated in the operation.
