Mangaluru, November 19: The renovated air-conditioned Devadigara Samaj Bhavan in Mannagudde, Gandhinagar here will be inaugurated by the couple Dr Veerappa Moily and Mrs Malathi Veerappa Moily on Sunday, November 22nd.
The Devadiga Sangha formed in 1926 is approaching the 90th year celebrations and the Devadiga association over this period in the community has developed in harmony in terms of social, cultural and educational sectors. This Samaj Bhavan founded about 9 decades ago has given chance for people from all the communities to organize various functions at an affordable price in the hall. Now, according to the modern necessities the interiors of the hall have been made ready along with air-condition facility. This hall will be made available to all the people at an affordable cost.
The Mangala Vidya Kendra that is being run from about 20 years is working under State Devadigas Association. Here education is being given in English Medium till High school. Following the “Education to All” rule of the government, free education is provided in English Medium to the children from economically backward family. Quality education is being provided. Along with the basic facilities, in-door games facilities have also been provided. For that Mangala Samskutika Ranga Mandira have been provided, informed the President of the Association Vaman Maroli.
Dr Veerappa Moily is the topmost leader of the Devadiga community. He provides guidance for the development of the community. He ably handled all the ministerial positions from Small scale industrial development till the Country’s Law ministry. As the Chief Minister of the State, he brought about many laws that are useful to the common man. As the president of Administrative Amendments Authority he provided guidance in the Nations administration and became famous in the political sector.
Now, for his great script ‘Shree Ramayana Mahanveshanam’, he has received the ‘Saraswati Samman’ and on this account, a felicitation program is also organized to honour him.
The event will be presided over by Padmabhushan Dr D Veerendra Hegde and a Souvenir will be released by him on this occasion.
Minister’s such as Ramanath Rai, Abhaychandra Jain, MLA J R Lobo, MLC Ivan D’Souza, Mayor Jacintha Vijay Alfred, Corporator Jayanti Aachar, M N Rajendra Kumar, Dr B S Sherigar, Dr K V Devadiga, Dharmapala Devadiga, President of dubai Devadiga sangha Harish sherigar and others will be present during the ceremony, he said.
Dr Shivaram Shetty, HOD, S.V.P. Study Centre, Mangaluru University will present a note on literature of Dr Veerappa Moily. Cultural programmes will be held in the afternoon, he informed.
