Mangalore, July 09: It has been reported that a gas cylinder caught fire on July 09, Tuesday at Kodakkal, near Kannur. Since there was no gas cylinder burst, major casualties have been averted.
Sources said the workers were busy with some welding work when this incident took place.
Since the cylinder was a company made hence no blast occurred, but the fire blazed for a long time despite efforts by the workers to extinguish it.
According to one of the senior employees of the garage, though Kadri police and fire brigade personnel have been summoned, police team came to the spot late by 20 minutes and fire brigade reached the spot late by 40 minutes.
Finally it was the workers who had sprayed water and managed to bring the fire under control.
