Accident near Hosangady- two aged persons expired, five injured

Kasargod, November 16: Two aged persons expired and five people including children sustained serious injuries when their car collided to a parked tanker. The incident took place near Hosangady, Manjeshwar on the evening of Sunday November 15th.

The deceased are namely Umesh Mayya (65) and his wife Sharada (62), residents of Heroor in Bandiyod. Other occupants in the car namely Shobha (19), Sangeeta (6), Manvita (3), Chidananda and Parvathi sustained injuries in the accident and they are admitted to a private hospital in Manglauru.

It is gatehred that seven members of a family including Umesh and Sharada were travelling in an Alto car from Mangaluru to Bandiyod. When the car reached a check-post near Hosangady, it went out of control and collided to a parked tanker. Sharada who was critically injured in the accident expired on spot, while Umesh succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

The car is badly mangled after the accident.

The tanker was moving from Mangaluru towards Kasargod and was parked by the roadside near the check-post when the Alto collided to it.

Five other occupants of the car sustained injuries and are admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru.

Meanwhile, the locals expressed fury over the fact that as the vehicles are haphazardly parked near the check post for checking, it causes trouble for other vehicle users.

A case has been filed by Manjeshwar police.
