Flooding nuisance; Emergency meeting at DC’s office

Mangalore, July 04: U T Khader, minister for health and family welfare has suggested in the emergency meeting held on July 04, Thursday at DCs office, to have highway patrol and check post at Charmadi ghat in order to prevent road blockage due to frequent tree falling on the road during monsoon and thereby causing road blockage.

After visiting flood affected areas like Kallapu, Adankudru and surrounding areas of Mangalore and Bantwala, he has called for an emergency meeting at DCs office to discuss about the preventive and precautionary measures to be taken in the event of heavy flooding, problems faced by the people of the affected areas.

He further said that all the officials from the district must come forward for saving the people of flood affected areas and advised to take the assistance form local bodies, Sanghatanas and youths and suggested to increase the number of ambulances near Netravati River.

He also said that after flooding is over administration must take preventive steps to control the spread of epidemic diseases. He informed in the meeting on July 04, with the help of 150 swimmers, many people have been saved at Ullal somanatha Uliya.

N Prakash, DC has suggested to take the responsibility of Puttur sub division by Puttur AC and Mangalore by Mangalore AC and remaining part of the district where there are acute problems, district level officials will be appointed, he said.

Health minister also said that in flood affected areas, youths should not be allowed to cross the areas with their childish mentality and also to ensure that people must be prevented from crossing or getting into the flood affected areas without knowing the areas where water current places are there.

In flood affected areas broken live electric wires are lying, incidences of water entering into the transformer, Mesom’s warning board like electricity has been cut, people must co-operate. Any such instances, must be brought to the attention of Mesom people, he added.

He has advised the departments to discharge their respective responsibilities with co-operation and co-ordination with each other.

N Prakash,DC has informed that as per the weather forecast there is likelihood of rain until July 9 and in case of  an emergency, public have been asked to call 1077,control room.
