Mangaluru, October 16: After the murder of flower vendor and Bajrang Dal activist Prashant Poojary in Moodbidri that took place recently, a key eyewitness in the case reportedly committed suicide in Moodbidri on Thursday October 15th.
The deceased man is identified as Vaman Poojary (68).
It is gathered that Vaman Poojary had a tender coconut shop close Prashant’s shop. At the time of murder of Prashant Poojary on the early morning of October 9th, Vaman was present at the spot. Hence he was thus considered a main eyewitness in the case.
After the murder of Prashant, Vaman Poojary appeared dull and did not mingle much with anyone, said the sources.
After about 3.30 pm on Thursday, he went missing and locals began to search for him. His worried family members suspected that he might have been kidnapped and informed the police. Later in the evening, Vaman Poojary was found hanging in a shed in the premises of his daughter’s house situated near Swaraj Maidan in Moodbidri.
Moodbidri police arrived at the spot and inspected. Investigations are underway.
