Kundapur, October 15: An engineering student at Moodalkatte institute of Technology here has committed suicide on the afternoon of Wednesday, October 14th reportedly after being depressed over death of his mother.
The deceased youth is identified as Shashank (20) from Turuvekere in Tumkur.
It is said, Shashank had lost his mother four years ago. After completing diploma course in his native, he had joined 2nd year Mechanical Engineering course in MIT, Kundapur. But the student was depressed since sometime after his mom appeared in his dreams and would call him to go near her. Confused over this dream and being depressed, the student has ended his life by hanging himself to a fan in this hostel room.
It is said, the internal assessments were going on in the college and Shashank had appeared for the internals in the morning. While his classmates had been to write the internals scheduled in the afternoon, Shashank remained back in the hostel room and then committed suicide it is said.
Kundapur police visited the spot and registered a case.
