Health Minister U T Khader directs for well-equipped blood collection system in State and Taluk level.

Mangaluru, October 13: On the occasion of the 46th Birthday celebrations of Health and Family Welfare Minister U T Khader, blood donation camp was organized at regional children’s modern treatment centre here. The event was jointly organised by the Karnataka Physiotherapy
Teachers Association, Rajeev Gandhi Health Science University Physiotherapy Students Association and the district All College Health University Students Association.

Addressing the gathering on this occasion, Minister Khader said, directions are passed for the well equipped and systematic blood collection system in all the blood banks in district hospitals of the state and also the taluk level blood collection system, he said.

It has come to the notice that the blood collection system in the taluk level is in a pathetic state. It has been directed to call a meeting on this with the Director of the State Health Department, State Drug Controller and AIDS control society officials and take suitable measures. Today the blood donation has gained more significance. Till now, science could not create a substitute for blood. Hence people must know about the value of blood and come forward to save lives, said Khader.

Chief Guest Shamili Shankar of G Shankar Family Trust spoke on this occasion and said she would provide assistance of Rs 1 crore for the Cancer and Dialysis Unit in Wenlock Hospital.

G Shankar Family Trust sponsored Rs 1.80 lakhs was handed over to the dialysis patients on this occasion.

Dr Rajeshwaridevi, Surgeon, Wenlock Hospital welcomed the gathering. Blood bank officer Dr Sharath gave information on the blood donation. Dr Mohammed Suhail thanked.

Dr M R Shetty, Chairman of MV Shetty Memorial Trust, Dr Vamadev, Director of Health Department, Myna Shetty of Shree Devi Education Trust, Corporator Vinayaraj,  U T Zalfikar, Wenlock Blood bank officer, and Dr Ramakrishna Rao, District Health Officer were present on this occasion.
