Mangaluru, October 3: A school going boy expired and two others were rescued after they got trapped in the river silt at Alivebagilu near Uchila Talapady on Friday October 2nd.
The deceased boy is identified as Arfaz (16), son of Abbas from Pilikuru in K C Nagar. He was the student of Falah School at K C Road.
As it was holiday on Friday, October 2nd on the account of Gandhi Jayanthi, around 15 boys went for swimming in the afternoon. While they were swimming, three among the group got trapped in the silt near the shore of the river. Meanwhile, other boys cried for help. But by the time the locals arrived at the spot, Arfaz had already lost his life. The locals saved life of the other two boys.
But the boys were unaware about the collection of silt there and the dangers posed by it. The group of boys had walked from Bettampady to the river to spend their holiday.
Police and the fire personnel’s arrived later.
Police have registered a case.
