Attempt to murder builder- three youths arrested by CCB police.

Mangaluru, October 1: Three men were arrested by CCB police on Wednesday September 30th for attempting to murder Prakash Pinto- proprietor of city based Paragon Builders and Promoters.

The arrested are identified as Umar Farooq alias Everest Farooq (30) from Ullal, currently residing at Faisalnagar, Altaf alias Bottu Altaf (28), a resident of Dharmanagar, Ullal and Siddique alias Abubakker Siddique (28), a resident of Faisalnagar.

It is gathered that on September 21st, Prakash Pinto went to his office by car. Soon after he got out of the car and was walking towards his office, about four to five men followed him and attempted to murder him using machetes. But, when people began to gather at the spot the accused fled from the spot in the Chevrolet car in which they had come. Later Prakash Pinto had filed a police complaint.

The police who took up brisk investigations, gathered information about the car used by the accused and traced it near Chilimbi on the same day. The police recently arrested one among the attackers identified as Raju alias Japan Manga and had confiscated the car and two machetes used for this crime.

Prakash Pinto and another real estate businessman based in Moodbidri had some conflict related to business, and that the accused Raju was given supari by the Moodbidri businessman to kill Pinto. The three youths arrested on Wednesday were Raju’s accomplices in the crime, said the CCB police.

Among the three arrested, Altaf is accused in 14 cases including five attempt to murder, three thefts and a case related to communal violence. He too was absconding.

Siddique is an accused in an attempt-to-murder case that took place two months ago under Kumble police jurisdiction and was absconding since then.

Umar Farooq is an accused in attempt to murder case of one Sakina in Ullal that took place in 2001. He is also accused in three cases of theft and another attempt to murder case.

For further investigations the accused have been handed over to Kadri police.
