Burglars sneak into bank’s strong room, burgle cash and gold valued at Rs 4 crore

Kasargod, September 28: Burglars bored into the strong room of Chervatthur branch of Vijaya Bank and decamped with gold and cash valued Rs 4 crore.

The Vijaya Bank is located on the first floor of a rented building close to Chervatthur bus stand.

When the employees came to work on Monday September 28th this incident came to light.  The exact day of theft is not known as the bank had remained closed over the weekend.

It is said that the room below the bank was occupied by some labourers from north India. The thieves bored the ceiling of the room on the lower floor and directly entered the strong room of the bank, it is learnt.

It is said, CCTV camera was not installed inside the strong room, hence the identities or even the number of people involved in the theft are not yet known. It is estimated that the thieves have fled with Rs 2.95 lakhs in cash and some gold, totally worth Rs 4 crore.

Police along with fingerprint experts along with canine squad visited at the spot and investigations are on.
