Mangaluru, September 28: As per reports, the city police, allegedly acting on information given by Bajrang Dal, reportedly stopped women from attending a party in a three-star hotel on Saturday September 26th. It is reported that the women were forced to leave, while the party with only men continued till night, a media report said.

However the police sources said that though the organizers had permission for DJ and ‘get-together’, they had also organized a fashion show and arranged liquor, for which they had not sought permission. Hence, the spot was raided by police and the organizers were stopped from holding the fashion show and cancelled the permit, said the sources.

It is alleged that at around 6.45 pm, the police went to the spot and made the women to leave the party. A report in Hindustan Times quoted a person who was at the spot at the time of the raid, stating that five or six European women were also forced to leave. The person quoted in the report had gone to the party with his wife and children, the report stated.

The police asked the organizers to stop the music, but 45 minutes later, the music resumed on a lower volume and the party went on till 10.20 pm without women, the report said.

Police sources however denied that only women were told to leave. Speaking to the media, DCP Shantaraju said that ‘false information’ was being circulated in WhatsApp.

According to the report in Hindustan Times, at least 20 women were present on the dance floor and about 40-50 were waiting to enter when the police arrived.

City Police Commissioner S Murugan did not respond when City Reporters tried to contact him, but the Hindustan Times quoted him as saying that a probe would be ordered on the allegations that the party continued without permission.

Police sources, while confirming that they had received a phone call that informed about the party, refused to reveal the caller’s name and denied that it was from Bajrang Dal.
