Lancy D’Souza murder attempt: Three men arrested, thoughts on to book once again Choni alias Keshava Poojary under goonda act: Commissioner S Murugan.

Mangaluru, September 22: Mangaluru City police commissioner informed that three men have been arrested in connection to the murder attempt on Lancy D’Souza who is a prime accused in murder case of Yatish Poojary which took place at Chembugudde under Ullal police jurisdiction.

Addressing a press meet at his office in the city he said, the accused namely  Choni alias Keshava Poojary (25), resident near Ullal bus stand, Prasad alias Pachhu (24) from Mogaveerapatna in Ullal,  and Rakshith alias DK (22) from Kapikad in Ullal have been arrested by the police in Melkar of B.C. Road and further investigations are on. The accused have attempted murder on Lancy D’Souza in retaliation to old rivalry, he informed.

Incident details:

A complaint was filed stating that in August 2014, Uday alias Udayraj and Lancy D’Souza had murdered Yatish Poojary in a bar at Thokkotu. In retaliation to this murder, on September 10th murder attempt took place on Lancy D’Souza. Seriously injured Lancy D’Souza is being treated in a hospital.

In total, five cases are registered against Choni alias Keshava Poojary who has been arrested in relation to this case. Murder of Sandeep Shetty from Someshwar in 2011, Shoot out case of entrepreneur Vijayendra Bhat in Ballalbhagh under Barke police jurisdiction, murder attempt in KC Road in Ullal police jurisdiction, and assault near Someshwar Beach were registered against him. Under goonda act he was kept in Ballary jail and in 2015 July, he was released on bail. Once again, review will be done on imposing goonda act on Choni alias Keshava Poojary, he informed.

Against another accused in the case, Prasad alias Pachhu, three cases were registered in the past. Murder of Guru in 2012 under Mangaluru North police jurisdiction, and two murder attempts in 2014 under Ullal police jurisdictions are registered against him. Accused Rakshith was involved in murder attempt on Mukhesh in Kumpala that took place in January 2015, informed the Commissioner.

In the press meet, DCP (Law and Order) KM Shantaraju and DCP (Criminal and Traffic department) Dr. Sanjeev M. Patil were present among others.
