Health hazards of Ajinomoto (Monosodium Glutamate) in packed snacks

We, especially the Pregnant women should not consume eatables with Ajinomoto (Monosodium Glutamate) as it causes disorders in nervous system.

Monosodium glutamate is a flavour enhancer used in many foods items available in the market, but it should be used in minute quantities. The rule is 5gm per 500 gms of food. But it is added in excess quantities in food because it increases the pungency of the food and also it is addictive.

Monosodium glutamate, is added in many readymade snacks. Children below 3 years should not be given such foods as Monosodium glutamate added in food stuffs affects central nervous system (CNS).

Other side effects of Monosodium glutamate (MSG):

  • Makes one feel excessively thirsty
  • Causes dehydration

Very addictive, proven addictive properties similar to that of marijuana or nicotine that affects CNS
