Mangaluru, September 15: Police arrested the accused who recently stabbed driver of an auto-rickshaw at Central Market in the city.
The arrested youth has been identified as Punith Salyan(24), resident of Devantagudde in Marakada.
The rickshaw driver Gopalkrishna Shetty (48) had stopped bike rider Punith Salyan who came from wrong side near Roopavani theater in central market here and asked him to go back. After quarrel erupted, the youth Punith Salyan using a knife from his bike key bunch stabbed Gopalkrishna Shetty on his abdomen and escaped from the spot leaving the bike at the spot.
Injured Gopalkrishna Shetty is recovering in hospital.
The police have presented the accused before the court and remanded to two weeks judicial custody.
