Issue of Yettinahole project– Protesters siege Former Minister Veerappa Moily, wave black flags

Mangaluru, September 12: On the issue of the controversial Yettinahole project, Former union minister M Veerappa Moily was on Saturday September 12th surrounded by many protesters while he was leaving the premises of World Konkani Centre here where he had been to attend a program.

The news reporters and the protesters asked various questions to Minister Veerappa Moily on the Yettinahole project.

Answering them Moily said, People in dry areas of the state are not getting pure water even if they dig the earth deep. Our aim was only to provide water and not to cause harm to the Western Ghats. During BJP government’s tenure in the state, the project was sanctioned. Later it was inaugurated by CM Siddaramaiah. He was unable to anything on it, said Moily.

Led by Dinesh Holla convenor of Sahyadri Samrakshana Sanchaya the protesters, submitted a memorandum addressed to the chief minister, requesting the government to drop the project.

Later when Moily moved towards his car, the protesters shouted slogans and waved black flags. Then the police intervened and arrested them.
