Haj pilgrims stuck at airport after flight tickets were found to be ‘cancelled’

Mangaluru, September 12: Some of the Haj pilgrims were put in confusion at Mangaluru International Airport here on Friday September 11th; after they learnt that their tickets had been ‘cancelled’ without any prior intimation.

It is gathered that for Haj pilgrimage, 54 people had booked their flight tickets through Akbar Travels in the city. They were supposed to board the Jet Airways flight in the evening to Saudi, but at the last moment, 49 passengers out of the 54 were told at the counter for issual of boarding pass that their tickets were not confirmed and cancelled, and that those were already booked by others.

In support of the stranded passengers, other five passengers also refused to board the flight.

Speaking to the media, one among the stranded passengers, said, we were issued tickets to board the 7 pm Jet Airways flight via Abu Dhabi, but at the last moment 49 people were told that their tickets were not confirmed.

No other alternative arrangements were made by the agents and they said that they will take us to Kochi to board the flight in the early morning. They have assured that they would book tickets for us on Air India. Among us there are aged persons and we are confused, he said.

Finally, the stranded pilgrims were taken by two buses to Kochi from where they are supposed to board the flight to Saudi in early morning.
