Mangaluru, September 11: Anti Netravati River Diversion Action Committee will organize a Bengaluru-Mangaluru National Highway bandh and ‘jail bharo’ to protest against the Yethinahole project, at Uppinangady on September 15th informed convener of Anti Netravati River Diversion Action Committee – Dr Niranjan Rai.
Addressing a press meet in the city on Friday September 11th, Dr Niranjan Rai said, by implementing this project without a detailed project report, the government is cheating the people of Dakshina Kannada district. All people should support the protest, he said.
He also said, the chief minister’s statement in support of the project shows government’s negligee attitude towards the citizens of DK district. Around ten thousand people mainly from Puttur, Sullia, and Beltangady taluks will participate in the protest, he said.
Dr Niranjan Rai also warned that the protest may turn severe in future.
Dinesh Holla, Shashidhar Shetty, Raj Gopal Bhat, Prashanth D’Costa were present.
