Mangalore, September 11: Miscreants who arrived in a car brutally attacked on a man while he was travelling on a two wheeler. The incident occurred near Chembugudde under Ullal police jurisdiction on the evening of Thursday, September 10th.
The victim is identified as Lancy D’Souza (32), resident of Pandith house, Santhosh Nagar in Ullal.
Seriously injured Lancy D’Souza was admitted to private hospital in the city.
In the evening as usual, Lancy D’Souza was on this way back home after the days work on his two-wheeler. Miscreants who followed him in a Maruti Swift car dashed their vehicle to his two-wheeler. As soon as Lancy D’Souza fell down from his vehicle, he was brutally attacked by miscreants using sharp weapons before fleeing the spot. The miscreants have left the car in the spot of attack, it is learnt.
When the car was inspected, machetes were found inside. Machetes were also found thrown outside on the spot of attack. The gang which attacked comprised of three members, informed the eye witnesses. No clues have been available about the gang, it is gathered.
It is learnt that, Lancy D’Souza was accused in the murder case of Yatish Poojary- an activist of Hindu Jagarana Vedike which took place in 2004 and was imprisoned. Two weeks ago, he had come out of jail after procuring bail. It is suspected that the attack that took place now may have a link with this case.
A case has been registered at Ullal police station and further investigations are on.
