MP Nalin Kumar Kateel speaking at a press meet held at the district BJP office here on Tuesday September 8th said, due to draught and heavy loans, famers in the state are committing suicide. The state government has not yet found solution to the farmer’s problems and is in sleeping state.

Earlier, the BJP government during the tenure of B S Yeddyurappa as chief minister of Karnataka had responded effectively to farmers’ concerns during areca crop failure. The centre has released funds of Rs 6,000 crore for sugarcane farmers as compensation, but the Karnataka government which was supposed to receive Rs 1,600 crore, has not received any amount from the centre as it has failed to submit the detailed report on the condition of the farmers in the state. The Chief Minister has failed to listen to farmer’s woes and safety concerns of the citizens. Rainfall has decreased in the state, and we are facing many problems. We are now facing power shortage too. Totally this government has failed and it is our duty to wake up the government, said MP Nalin.

Conversing about the controversial Yettinahole project, MP Nalin Kumar said, I have written urging the union minister of water resources Uma Bharti to intervene and drop the project.

BJP MLC Ganesh Karnik, BJP leader Monappa Bhandary, former MLA Krishna J Palemar and others were present.
