The students complained that the police had assaulted badly two M Com students named as Awaiz and Sampath in connection to the theft of a mobile phone. In connection to this Udupi All College students protested in front of the office of the District Superintendent of Police and urged for suitable actions against the Malpe police.

SP Annamalai after receiving the memorandum from the students said he would direct the concerned officers to take actions on the issue. It was not right for the students to miss their classes and protest for this matter, he said.

SP K Annamalai also added that no cases were registered on the students in consideration of their future.

While the head constable of Malpe police station had called the students to inquire about the mobile theft case, they had behaved rudely with the police and insulted them. This kind of mannerism is not good for the students. Such kind of attitude has to be changed, advised the SP to the students, it is learnt.
