Notorious thief involved in over 50 cases arrested by police.

Mangaluru, September 5: Mangaluru CCB police have arrested a notorious thief who was involved in building thefts and vehicle thefts around Mangaluru city limits. Two Honda Activa scooters was confiscated from his possession.

The arrested has been identified as Muneer Ahmed alias Goods Muneer, resident of Elison Heights Apartment.

He was involved in many thefts and remained elusive without attending the court trials.

Over 50 cases of theft are registered against him.

On Friday while CCB Inspector Valentine D’Souza and staff were on a regular beat, they took Muneer Ahmed into custody who was moving on a Honda Activa Scooter. During investigation, he confessed to the police that the two wheeler was stolen from Azeezuddin road while it was parked there and then he had attached a fake number plate to the vehicle, informed the police.

Accused Muneer Ahmed was involved in over 50 theft cases. In Mangaluru City he is involved in 45 theft cases, communal revolt and vehicle theft. In addition, a case of fraud has been registered against him at Thalassery police station in Kerala state. The accused also failed to attend the court hearings. Pertained to a theft case registered at Mangaluru East police station, the accused Muneer Ahmed had ran away from the court premises at the time of announcement of court sentence. Accused Muneer Ahmed began theft since 1980 and still continues with it, informed the police.

Against the accused Muneer Ahmed, 22 cases are registered at Mangaluru North police station.

Two months ago, CCB police arrested his brother Abdul Raheem alias Goods Raheem alias Kindi Raheem and seized Ganja from his possession. His another brother Farook was also arrested by Mangaluru North police and Ganja was confiscated from him.

He borrowed loans from some people and when the respective parties asked him to return their money; he would file false police cases through his wife. He along with his family members are involved in anti-social activities. While they were arrested, the police learnt that they had filed false complaints against the police department in the name of Human Rights Authority by unknown names, informed the police.

The Honda Activa vehicle seized from Muneer has been handed over to the Mangalore North Police station for further procedures.

Under the directions of police commissioner S Murugan, guided by DCP K M Shantaraju and DCP Dr Sanjeev M Patil; CCB Inspector Valentine D’Souza, PSI Shyam Sunder and staffs participated in this arrest operation.
