Mangaluru, August 25: Led by the Campus Front of India(CFI), massive protest was staged and a rally was taken against the drawback in the minority scholarships.
The students from various colleges clutching the scholarship forms marched on a rally from PVS circle here to the Minority student scholarship office in Kottara Chowki. The students then moved ahead to lock-up the office. On intervention of the police, the students said we will definitely lock the office which neglects us and serves for no purpose and successfully locked the office.
Students also shouted slogans. They said, server which is used for filling the on-line forms is creating trouble. Hence the last date for the submission of student scholarship form has to be extended. In addition for the appropriate functioning of the organization, it has to be released from the central government and has to be handed over to the state government. They demanded that the president of Minority Protection Committee MLA J R Lobo visit the spot.
MLA J R Lobo arrived at the spot and assured the students of resolving their problems and was successful in changing their minds to open the lock of the office.
CFI state secretary Mohammed Zabaer, vice-president Tafseer, district president Irshad Bajpe and others were present.
