Mangaluru, August 22: In Dakshina Kannada District, as there are bifurcations of the Coastal Regulation Zone(CRZ) and the Non Coastal regulated Zone(non-CRZ), there lacks similar rules set to collect the royalty for the sand mining. Due to this, there are differences in the royalty amount. Hence as the general publics are facing problems due to this, a letter has been written to the government seeking for guidelines to collect similar royalty amount.
He informed this in a video conference meeting with the Secretary of Mines and Geological department- Nitesh Naushal and the Department Commissioner Shankaranarayan.
The Deputy Commissioner brought to the notice of the secretary that, in total of 232 acres in the district, 242 members are given the permission for traditional sand mining. Due to the problems in sand collection, and transport; there are differences in the sand prices.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Kumar, Acting Deputy Director of the Department of Mines and Geology- Nagendrappa were present.
