Mangalore, June 27: Addressing the press meet held at city’s Woodland hotel on June 27, Thursday PUCL president PB D’Sa said in his address that in spite of Molly Vas, who had filed a complaint with Kadri police station about the theft of gold jewelry worth Rs 12 lakh by her servant Hilda alias Anitha,Kadri  police have not yet registered either FIR or arrested the accused Anitha, instead they gave non- cognizable receipt for lost gold.

He further said that Molly had mentioned servant’s name Hilda in her complaint as she was the only one outsider at the time of theft. Hilda was engaged as part time servant by Molly since three months and become very close to her as she had no friends or relatives in Mangalore.

D’Sa further said that Molly had approached PUCL on April 6 and they in turn immediately approached Kadri Police station. The police had also assured her arrest immediately as she was already under surveillance. Since the way of their attitude did not convince us, we had to approach commissioner of police on April 15 and submitted a petition to the DCP and an FIR NO 56/2013 was filed by Kadri police and no arrest was made, he said.

In fact they informed the accused Anitha to obtain anticipatory bail, which she has obtained in CR.misc case No 417/2013, he informed further.

He also said that when they met commissioner on April 13 for follow up, police did not even bother to verify with Kadri police but casually said that matter will be looked into. This will show that police are hand in gloves with criminals especially those who have made it their profession to rob public, D’Sa alleged.

Initially Kadri police were trying to convince them saying that if we enter her house and do not get any gold, it will go against us. When we have investigated, we found out that this Anitha has number of alias and she has moved the court for bail as Hilda D’Souza, though FIR is in the name of Hilda, he said and adding that it has been reliably learnt from police sources that she has a case against her in ullal and in Mulky police station.

She was also working in St Aloysius high School library as a sweeper for nearly six months ago and was shunted out because she was caught red handed robbing mobile phones and purses of teachers and students,D’Sa said.

According to the sources, she has a habit of travelling in buses and moves in crowd wearing Burqa to rob lady passengers and pedestrians, he further added.
