Mangaluru, August 8: A young woman was caught by the bus commuters while she attempted to snatch the chain from a kid’s neck in the bus. She was later handed over to the Mulky police on Friday August 7th.
After visiting Kateel temple; Chitra, a resident of Suratkal was returning with her child and other family members in a bus plying to Mangaluru via Kinnigoli. The people travelling along with Chitra saw a woman in the bus trying to snatch the chain from the child’s neck and informed bus conductor.
Then the bus conductor and the passengers made the woman alight at Kinnigoli bus stand and informed local people about the matter.
Kinnigoli panchayat member Sunitha Zita Rodrigues immediately informed the Mulky police.
The police arrived to the spot, arrested the woman, and are investigating. The woman is said to have come from Tamil Nadu.
As the buses plying from Kateel are crowded on Fridays and other days of religious importance, the thieves make best use of this opportunity. Passengers need to be careful about their belongings.
