Mangaluru, August 07: A critically injured man after a brutal attack has expired in Unity Hospital here failing to respond to the treatments on Friday afternoon, August 07th.
It is gathered that the four bike borne assailants in the pretext of asking for the guidance of the route, attacked with deadly weapons on auto rickshaw driver and the passenger inside. The attack took place near Kandur in Sajipamunnur village on the night of Thursday, August 06th.
The injured are identified as Mohammed Musthafa and Nazir, both residents of Alady in Sajipamunnur village.
Both the injured were given first aid treatment at a nearby hospital and were then shifted to private hospital in Mangaluru. Among the injured, Nazir was said to be in serious state.
It is learnt that, at about 10.45 pm on Thursday, Musthafa was driving his auto rickshaw towards his home from Melkar along with Nazir. As he reached Kandur, four men who arrived on a bike stopped the auto rickshaw in the pretext of asking the way for Bollayi. As soon as the auto driver stopped the auto-rickshaw, the unknown miscreants attacked on the auto driver Musthafa with sharp weapons. Immediately, Musthafa managed to escape from the spot. Meanwhile the attackers who saw Nazir inside the auto rickshaw, brutally attacked on him too and escaped from the spot, it is learnt.
After some time, when the auto driver Musthafa came close to his auto rickshaw, he found seriously injured Nazir struggling in a pool of blood. Immediately Musthafa turned his auto rickshaw towards Melkar and asked his friend Anwar to come there and in his auto-rickshaw, moved to Thumbe, took first aid treatment from a hospital there and were then admitted to private hospital in Mangaluru for advanced treatment, it is learnt.
The reason behind the attack is not known.
Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim and senior police officials have visited Unity hospital and investigated.
Bantwal town police have registered a case. The police are on a look out for the accused.
In Sajipamooda and Sajipamunoor village tight police security has been deployed.
Senior police officials have visited Bantwal police station and provided directions to nab the accused, it is learnt.
