KSRTC suspends Puttur divisional controller for graft

MANGALORE: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation has suspended P Yashwanth Kumar, divisional controller (DC), Puttur division on charges of accepting bribe to facilitate the transfer of an employee within his division.

B K Singh, director (personnel), KSRTC told  over phone from Bangalore that Yashwanth had allegedly sought money to transfer a junior assistant from Puttur depot to Madikeri depot under his jurisdiction.

Stating that the divisional mechanical engineer has been given charge of the day-to-day affairs of the Puttur division, Singh said, a departmental inquiry has been ordered and a charge sheet will be served on the suspended official shortly. “If the charges are proved, the official can be dismissed from service,” he added.

Incidentally, Yashwanth Kumar is the first divisional controller of the division that was carved out of Mangalore division.
