Bakery owner stabbed by gang of masked men in Ullal

Mangaluru, July 30: A man was stabbed by a group of masked men at Mastikatte in Ullal outskirts of Mangaluru on Wednesday late night July 29th.

The victim is Abdul Salam (30), owner of Bakery at Mastikatte, who was allegedly attacked by Fayaz, a notorious criminal accused in several cases, and his three accomplices.

When Salam was in his bakery, gang of four men entered the bakery and brutally attacked him using sharp weapons before fleeing the spot.

Salam was critically injured and was taken to a private hospital in Thokkottu and later shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru.

The accused Fayaz is booked in over 10 cases, including in the murder of Kanchan Textiles manager. He along with Haris, a resident of Ullal and two others allegedly attacked Salam.

It is said that Salam had complained to the police against Fayaz and gang as they were allegedly harassing him and other people in the vicinity. Fayaz had allegedly threatened and warned Salam about this. The attack on Salam was revenge Fayaz had against him, said the sources.

Tension prevailed in the vicinity for some time.

Ullal police and higher police officers have visited the spot and investigations are on.
