Puttur, July 29: Team of Puttur police have arrested Varadesh, son of Srivara Jewellers owner, Balakrishna Bhat, from Kushalnagar in Kodagu district and brought to Puttur on Tuesday, July 28th.
The Owner of Shreevara Jewellers Balakrishna Bhat had begun gold scheme of paying monthly instalments and duped many customers of total sum owing about Rs 1.75 crores. The prime accused in the case, the shop owner Balakrishna Bhat along with his family have remained elusive.
25 days after the matter came to light, one has been arrested now and the police are now looking for the prime accused.
The duping network had come to light on July 3rd. A case pertained to this was filed by Puneeth from Puttur. Following this, the Jewel shop owner had absconded along with his family members.
The showrooms of Srivara Jewellers in Puttur, Sullia and Madikeri were closed. Meanwhile, the Puttur police investigated the Jewellery showroom in Puttur for a week and had locked it.
During the investigations, they got the passport of Varadesh and confiscated it. Finally the police received information about the presence of Varadesh in Kushalnagar.
Directed by Police Inspector Mahesh Prasad, the police team from Puttur went to Kushalnagar on Monday and brought the accused to Puttur on Tuesday. The accused will be presented before the court on Wednesday.
Over 600 customers who were duped, have filed complaint with the police, and with this Rs 1.75 crores fraud through the Srivara Gold scheme has come to light.
