Belthangady, July 28: A pillion rider died in a bus-bike collision that occurred on the National Highway in Seetu near Mundale in Ujire on Monday, July 27th.
The deceased youth Prashanth Poojary (23), resident of Kanaydi in Dharmasthala was the son of Late Krishna.
The accident took place while Prashanth was moving on a bike with his friend to Ujire from Somathadka and the Rajahamsa bus was traversing from Ujire to Charmadi . It is said, the bike was in a bid to overtake another vehicle.
The bus driver who tried to avoid the collision, veered the bus to a drainage close by.
Prashanth who was critically injured was rushed to hospital in an auto rickshaw but was declared brought dead.
Bike rider Sandesh has escaped with minor injuries and has been admitted to a private hospital in Ujire.
Prashanth was employed at Rathnashree press in Dharmasthala. He was also a member of Veerakesari union in Kanya.
It is learnt that the bus was plying from Bengaluru to Udupi.
Police have registered a case.
