Mangaluru, July 27: The Dakshina Kannada District Ex-service men association paid homage to the Kargil Martyrs near Kadri war memorial here on the morning of Sunday, July 26th.
Dr D Veerendra Heggade, Dhramadhikari of Shree Kshethra Dharmasthala offered flowers and paid tribute to the martyrs.
Addressing the gathering later, Dr Veerendra Heggade said, due to the mettle exhibited by our soldiers in the Kargil war, today we stay peacefully in the country. The soldiers serving in the borders have sacrificed all their pleasures in order to safeguard the citizens of our country. We have got a moral victory in the Kargil war. We have shown to the world that the Indian army is the strongest. The day each Indian has to feel proud is the Kargil Vijay Diwas. My salute to the Indian Soldiers, he said.
I honour every soldier serving in the Indian defence. We are there with the country’s soldiers. For the sacrifice you render us, we will pray for your health, happiness and peace, he said.
