Mangaluru, July 27: The newly built “Sainik Bhavan” near Bavuta Gudde here was inaugurated by Dharmadhikari of Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala, Padma Vibhushan Dr D Veerendra Heggade, on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas on Sunday July 26th.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Veerendra Heggade said, we have to give moral support to our soldiers who sacrifice their pleasures and protect our country. During the Kargil war, our soldiers have sacrificed their lives to protect the country. The soldiers in the borders over come many challenges in order to protect the country. They are also protecting the citizens. It is our responsibility to respect such soldiers on the occasion of the Kargil Vijay Diwas day, informed Dr Heggade.
Along with the curriculum, NCC and NSS training was made compulsory in schools to develop patriotism. In this view, we need to create more awareness among the youth. We must pass a message to the soldiers protecting our country that we are with them, he said.
Vinay Hegde, chancellor of Nitte University said, the families of the martyrs in Kargil war are suffering a lot. To help them, a permanent fund has to be formed in the country. We have to extend moral support to them. For this, there is a need of organization. In this view, decision to build Sainik Bhavan by the Dakshina Kananda district Ex service men is a great achievement. We have to congratulate them for this feat, he said.
President of Dakshina Kananda district Ex service men association, Col N Sharath Bhandary presided over the event.
MLA Capt. Ganesh Karnik, ZP CEO Shrividya, Vijaynath Vittal Shetty, Administrative Chief of Shree Shasthavu Bhoothanatheshwara temple Badaga Mijar, Ex service men Brigadier I N Rai, Lt Col N P Rai, Vikram Dutt, Col Balakrishna and others were present.
Prior to inauguration of ‘Sainik Bhavan’, in memory of the “Kargil Vijay Diwas”, the dignitaries, Ex service men, officials from Lions organization and the general public offered flowers at the War Memorial near Kadri Hills and paid tribute to the martyrs.
