Mangaluru, July 21: A high school girl from Nagori in Mangaluru who had gone missing on the evening of Monday July 20th has been traced.

The girl Chaitra (13), a student of Capitanio High School, had left from home on Monday evening saying she was going to attend the tuition classes and had not returned home later.

The CCTV footage at Garodi temple revealed that she had entered the premises in uniform and walked out in casual dress. It also showed her boarding a city bus. A woman had found the girls uniform and school bag in a narrow passage, post which she handed them over to the people of Garodi temple. Later the girls missing came to light when the bag was checked and her parents were informed.

It is gathered that the girl asking for a job had knocked at the doors of some residents at Mallikatta. The girl had told that she was from Bagalkot and that her parents were no more. One of the residents grew suspicious and informed the authorities. Later the girl was taken by the officials of the Child Welfare Committee and was brought to the Bala Samrakshana Mandir at Bondel.

Initially, there was confusion about the identity of the girl, as she claimed that her parents had expired. Chaitra’s parents too hail from Bagalkot. After some probe, the girls identity was confirmed.

Official sources at the Child Welfare Committee said, the girl had a brawl with her sister, the latter in anger had told to leave home. Hence the girl had left the home.

The girl is currently with Child Welfare Committee. She would be handed over to the police and later handed over to her parents, said the police sources.
