Kundapur, July 14: The Kundapur police have arrested two youths among three who misbehaved with a minor college girl while she was waiting for the bus to return home. The incident occurred at Koteshwar in Kundapur taluk on Monday afternoon, July 13th.
The arrested are identified as Safan and Suhail, both aged 19 years and are residents of Gulwadi. Another accused Shafi(20) succeeded in giving the police a slip.
It is learnt that, a first PUC college girl, resident near Koteshwar was waiting for the bus in Koteshwar bus-stop to return home after college on Monday afternoon. Meanwhile, three youths belonging to other community had approached the minor girl, misbehaved with the girl and also gave their mobile number written in a paper and asked the girl to phone them, it is said. The frightened girl conveyed the matter to the locals there. The publics together thrashed the three boys. Meanwhile Shafi escaped.
The Kundapur police arrived to the spot and arrested Safan and Suhail. Police are on a look-out to arrest Shafi.
It is said, these three boys were harassing the minor girl since the past four-five days, which the girl had informed her family members. As the torment was too much on Monday, the girl with no other option has filed a case against the three youths with the Kundapur police.
A case has been registered under the POCSO act against the three boys. The arrested are subjected to medical tests and have been presented in the court.
