Mangaluru, July 3: In connection to the serial theft and fire accident at a hardware shop which took place on Tuesday near Konaje, the police have intensified their investigations and two suspects have been taken into custody.
The thieves had stolen items worth lakhs of rupees from seven shops including a studio, and a mobile shop near the University hostel in Konaje.
Later, while they attempted to burgle a hardware shop near Pajiru Jodukatte, since accidental fire broke out in the shop, the thieves had left all the previously stolen items in a bush near Jodukatte.
Although the stolen items were found, the fire had incurred a heavy loss of more than Rs 30 lakhs to hardware shop.
On the basis of CCTV footages collected from the vicinity, it was apparent that the thieves had arrived by bike. But the police could not get any clear information about the persons responsible for this incident.
Under suspicion, the Konaje police have taken two suspects into custody who had previously involved in theft case. Police have intensified the investigations.
