Mangaluru, June 29: Konkan Overseas Returnees Welfare Association (KORWA) rendered a helping hand and distributed school bags and books to needy, deserving students in a befitting ceremony held at Milagres hall in the city on Sunday, June 28th.
Mangaluru south MLA J R Lobo addressing the students said, “KORWA” is an association formed by a group of persons who returned from the Gulf region. It is formed for the welfare of Gulf returnees and the needy people in their native. This organization was formed in order to serve the society. KORWA has taken this initiative to support the education of needy children. He also advised the children to study well so that their efforts become fruitful.
Louis Lobo, President of KORWA, welcomed the gathering.
DySP Dr Venkatesh Prasanna, KORWA vice-president Elias Sanctis, Former mayor Judith Mascarenhas, Fr Valerian D’Souza, students and others were present on this occasion.
School books and bags were distributed to 500 children of St Joseph the Worker School, St Rita Higher Primary School, Government Higher Primary School, Al Hazan School and many other schools.
