Mangaluru, June 29: The vehicle users must be very careful while violating traffic rules in the city. Police department plans to initiate strict legal actions against traffic violators informed City police commissioner, S Murugan,.

Speaking to the media here on Sunday June 28th, Murugan said, regarding the cases of traffic rule violations, CCTV footage will be the vital evidence. Based on it, action will be initiated against rule violators, he said.

The police department have already installed 55 CCTV cameras within the city police commissionerate jurisdiction. The department plans to install additional 60 such cameras to charge violators and reduce such violations, he said.

He further added, during the last five days, based on CCTV footage about 30 cases have been registered against violation of traffic rules.

Last year, 1,05,000 cases of traffic rule violations were registered, and fine of Rs 1.8 crore has been collected. This year, 55,000 cases have been registered already, and a fine of Rs 60 lakhs has been collected, he said.

On the basis of CCTV footage, the department has decided to take stringent actions against the vehicles which are parked violating the rules, informed the commissioner S Murugan.
