IGP Amrut Paul has announced cash prizes to police officials and staff that cracked complex rape case within 24 hours.

Mangaluru, June 25: Inspector General of Police (IGP) western range Amrut Paul has announced cash prize Rs 35,000 as a token of appreciation to the police officers and staffs for promptly cracking a complex rape case of a minor girl student within 24 hours.

A 16-year old minor girl studying in 9thstandard was returning home all alone on June 20th from school via Volakadama, Konemajalu route. Meanwhile, a stranger who stopped her near Padavu, dragged her into a wood close by and had raped her.

Later, based on the complaint filed under POCSO act by the girl against the unknown accused, the police collected related information from the girl and successfully arrested the culprit Shekar. The court has ordered to detain Shekar under judicial custody till June 6th.

Additional Superintendent of Police- Vincent Shantakumar, Bantwal Assistant Superintendent of Police Rahul Kumar S, Puttur DySP Bhaskar Rai NG, Puttur rural CPI Anil S. Kulkarni, Puttur Town police station PI Mahesh Prasad, Kadaba police inspector Yogesh Kumar BC, Bantwal Rural PSI Rakshith, staffs, Puttaswamappa, Taranatha, Praveen, Krishnappa, Bhaskara, Kanakaraj  participated in the operation.

In this regard, as the police were successful in cracking this complex case within 24 hours, Inspector General of Police has announced the prizes for the police staffs.
