Red sanders smuggling busted: Seven arrested, valuables confiscated.

Mangalore, June 18: Manipal and DCBI police have arrested 7 Kerala based persons on the morning of Wednesday June 17th while they were smuggling red sanders in a vehicle.

The arrested are identified as Saif (32), from Kunnathur takuk in Kollam district, Nisar B (36), from Chavara taluk, Shahjahan (32), from Karinagapalli, Nadim Sunil (23), from Movelkam taluk, Allapi district, Amin A (23), from Pallikal, Niyaz (23), and Aymen M S (26) all from Kerala.

Police have seized 575kgs of red sanders, and 8 cell phones from the accused.

Based on credible information, the police stopped a Kerala registered pickup at Perampally on Ambagilu Manipal road and found red sanders loaded in pickup vehicle which was moving from Ambagilu towards Manipal.

Post this; the police also stopped an Innova car and a Ritz car which was following the pickup. Police found red sanders being placed under the seats of these two cars.

The police arrested all the accused and seized the vehicles and also the red sanders from their possession.

The police informed that, during investigations the accused have revealed that from Kerala they had brought the red sanders to sell them to Sachin Shetty, Nelson and Austin from Manipal.

Pertaining to this a case has been registered Manipal police station and further investigations are in progress.
