Mangaluru, June 12: The ‘World Child Labour Opposition Day’ and legal awareness workshop was organized at the hall of the Zilla Panchayat under the joint collaboration of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat, district administration, Labour Department, District legal services authority and other organizations, on Friday, June 12th.
Deputy Commissioner Adoor B Ibrahim inaugurated the occasion.
Speaking on this occasion he said, the children are exploited from the time since the industrial revolution began in the country, and has continued till now. We must put an end to this inhumane act. The number of Child labours in the district is comparatively less in comparison to other places. He gave a call to all the voluntary organizations to work hand in hand with the district administration in order to make the district free from child labour.
Additional District and Sessions Judge CM Joshi speaking on this occasion said, the worst inhumane practice of child labour can be rooted out only by creating awareness among the people rather than the framing laws.
An awareness march was also organized from Urva Store to the Zilla Panchayat to educate the publics on eradication of Child Labour.
The march was flagged off by the Zilla Panchayat CEO SL Shreevidya.
DG Nagesh welcomed the gathering.
On this occasion, District Superintendent of Police DR SD Sharanappa, president of Mangaluru Bar Association S P Chengappa and others were present.
