Mangaluru, June 12: The Mangalore City High school Headmasters and Pre-University College Principal’s Association (MCHMPA) organized an educational conference cum honouring the toppers of SSLC-2015, heads of the Institutions which received 100 percent results and establishment of Stany Francis Baretto SSLC scholarships, at Milagres PU College Hall here on June 11th.
The event was presided over by Deputy Director of Public Instructions, Walter D’Mellow.
Speaking on this occasion, he praised the teachers for their effort in rising the Dakshina Kannada district to eighth place in 2014-2015 from 28th place in the state. He said right from the beginning of the academic year, the teachers should chalk out their work plan, be committed and maintain the team spirit in order to achieve and rise the district to the first place in SSLC in the state, he said.
Fr Francis X Gomes said the teachers should be the substitute for parents in schools. Education is a continual learning process. In modern era, students are multi-talented and a teacher should always be a learner, he said.
114 schools have achieved hundred percent results and the pass percentage has also increased.
The 6th music CD, a collection of Kannada patriotic songs by Padua High School teacher Stany Baretto, was released by DDPI Walter D’Mellow on this occasion. These songs are written and edited by him.
Stany Baretto donated 1000 CD’s to MCHMPA which will be distributed to students of various schools in Mangaluru.
Rs 3 lakhs fixed deposit certificate was handed over by Stany Baretto to the MCHMPA president Aloysius D’Souza. The interest of this amount will be disbursed as scholarships of Rs 10,000 for three toppers, two from Kannada medium and one English medium, through MCHMPA from the year 2016.
Stany Baretto and his family members were also felicitated on this occasion.
Retired teachers, SSLC-2015 toppers, heads of the institutions which achieved 100 percent results were felicitated on this occasion.
Fr Denis Moras Prabhu, Fr Michael Santhumayor, Administrator of Milagres Educational Institutions, Prabhakar Neermarga, Deputy Registrar, Mangalore university, were present.
