‘Rain festival’ on June 14th- Competitions, expo, delicious cuisines will entertain the crowd.

Mangaluru, June 12: In the “Rain festival” which will be organized in Dr Shivarama Karanth Pilikula Nisargadhama on June 14th, ‘Umbrella illusion magic’ will be a special attraction, informed Deputy Commissioner AB Ibrahim.

Addressing a press meet at his office here on Thursday, June 11th, he informed this and said this expo will be held after the formal inauguration ceremony of the event at 10.30 am on Sunday, June 14th. The expo of traditional and modern umbrellas will also be organized. Folk art on umbrellas, on spot painting on the umbrellas, expo, sale and prizes for the attractive umbrellas will also be the part of the event.

Interested participants can call the number 9841245137 of Mr Jagannath within June 13th to take part in the competitions. There will also be a photographic exhibition related to the rain. Interested may send the photographs a day before by post or drop it in person.

Traditional songs, folk dance, traditional games, knitting the coconut leaves, lagori, kuttidonne, jubili game, jackfruit happala, santani, cooked jackfruit seeds, delicious cuisines prepared on spot, pathrode, tajank vade, jackfruit dosa, kottige, rasayana, jackfruit desert, fresh fishes of Karnataka fisheries Development Board, local non-vegetarian dishes, Ice creams, interesting informations on rain, rain harvest, water collection models, acid rain, cloud burst, lightning resistor, forest, agriculture, various plants exhibition by the Horticulture Department will be the part of this event.

Information on terrace gardening, various fruits expo and sale by the hopcoms, Savayuva santhe (organic market), various products expo of independent and Siri firms, explained S A Prabhakara Sharma, the Project Director at Pilikula Nisargadhama.

Parking arrangement:

In the ground of ‘Urban Haat’ in Pilikula, parking facility has been done for the vehicles arriving at the event. The ‘Rain Fest’ event will be held close to the parking area, said Prabhakara Sharma.

In the press meet, Dr K V Rao of Pilikula Nisargadhama Science centre, N G Mohan, Yatish Baikampady of Panambur Beach Development Authority were present.
