Three hundred teachers will be employed soon in DK district: Walter D’Mello

Mangaluru, June 10: In government schools across Dakshina Kannada, 300 teachers will be appointed soon through which the problem of shortage of teachers will be almost resolved, said Walter D’Mello, the Deputy Director of Public Education Department.

A general meeting was presided over by the Zilla Panchayat president Asha Thimmappa Gowda at the Nethravathi hall in ZP office here on Tuesday, June 9th. The shortage of teachers in government schools was discussed in the meeting.

Member MS Mohammed demanded that on the basis of strength of students, adequate teachers should be employed in schools.

In response the DDPI said, government orders have been received to employ teachers to the required schools. As per the order, counselling has been done and appropriate measures have been taken to transfer the additional teachers working in some schools to other schools. As many as 103 teachers are marked as additional and transferred to other schools. Accordingly the number of additional teachers was Mangaluru north-3, Mangaluru south-33, Bantwal -14, Puttur-22, Belthangady-6, Moodbidri-3 and Sullia-22. The head teachers post have to be filled only through counselling, which was already done on April 6th. The employment procedure will be completed in August and the teachers will be employed, informed the DDPI.

Later MLA Ivon D’Souza asked the officials about the works undertaken on the project of National middle school education. The members expressed dissatisfaction over the answers of the officials and urged the minister to draw the attention of the government into this matter.

In response Ivon said, the district in-charge minister will be requested to hold a review meeting on this matter and also pressurize the government to complete the project which has already begun.
