Mangaluru, June 9: Ullal police have arrested a youth on Monday June 8th, who succeeded in escaping arrest after getting involved with a notorious gang named ‘Target’.
The arrested is identified as Akbar (24) from Mastikatte.
The accused, along with others, had opened a travel agency named ‘Target’ at Mastikatte in Ullal. It is said that a person named Illyas had formed a gang of ten members, which also comprised of two women. The gang used to take pictures of women in compromising positions with entrepreneurs, and later blackmail the victims by placing demand for ransom.
Ten persons were arrested after the activities of the gang came to light in 2013. But, Akbar had succeeded in escaping from the police and went absconding.
The Ullal police, who received the information that Akbar was at Talapady, arrested him from there. Later Akbar was produced before the court here.
